This native wildflower grows well in a variety of conditions, including poor soil! The American Indians were said to have smoked and chewed its leaves; hence the common name. Indian Tobacco has also been used medicinally, but it is not recommended that humans consume this plant, since it can be toxic when eaten in large quantities. When burned this plant makes a natural insect repellent!
