False Indigo is a 6-12 foot, loose, airy shrub which often forms dense thickets. The inflorescence is a spike-shaped raceme of many flowers, each with a single purple petal and ten protruding stamens with yellow anthers. Attractive and fast growing, this plant is great for boggy, wet areas, and its native habitat includes stream beds and roadsides.
