Review & Description
A grasslike, aromatic perennial with long, narrow, iris-like leaves rising to a height of 5 feet. It has a finger-shaped, greenish brown flower cluster. The root stocks of this aromatic plant are used as a natural insecticide and an ingredient of perfumes! The rootstocks were once used as a food additive as well, but this practice has since been banned by FDA. Often found along swamps, meadows and streams.
