Review & Description
Carnation (Dianthus Caryophyllus Chabaud La France) - The La France Carnation is a well known variety that combines all good qualities of carnations in to a brilliant soft pink color. The fragrance is an added bonus to dianthus caryophyllus. Double beautifully scented, fringed soft pink flowers, and brilliant color mark this excellent cutflower. This variety of carnation grows as a perennial in frost free zones. Grown as an annual where winters are cold. Grow carnation flower seeds in borders, planters and rock gardens. Double, fringed flowers are spicily fragrant and are unsurpassed as cut flowers. For flowers the first year, start flower seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost, planting 2 - 3 seeds per pot or cell. Move seedlings to a cool, bright place to continue growing, then transplant to the garden a week or two before the last frost. Where winters are mild, carnation seeds maybe planted outdoors spring through early fall.
